about
TRACES. (spanish & english story)
I wrote the words and the music of Traces after thinking of those traces I left on your skin that faded away with fire and water. It’s not rock or pop. It’s a psychedelic folk song (Daniel and I produced this looking for unexpected sounds like horns or melotron) for early morning hours, beer, seed and half-closed eyes.
The Rebels’ crack only left behind a little baby who was born the first days of the new year and one month later she knew more about life and death than all the soldiers of the Big Amnesia.

lyrics
TRACES
We had to grope along the ledge
in the darkness of our rooms
Yes we groped for the right words
before we were eaten by the moon
You wearing black stockings
and that shirt with number eight
I’m going to have good luck
I’m high for the take-off weight
You paint my panting
Water mist on the cold glass
Let’s make a crazy tail
before our time has passed….
We had to grope along the ledge…
Remember our wondering faces
Baby of Rebels Crack
Forget I drew you close and left traces
on your back

“Remind Me Tomorrow” is a great leap into new territory for Van Etten stylistically, but there isn’t a single moment of distrust in her abilities as a songwriter to be found—nor is there any mistaking her trademark voice. Bandcamp Album of the Day Jan 14, 2019
The sophomore solo effort from Hiss Golden Messenger bassist Scott Hirsch offers a fresh batch of songs that kick back to classic country, tempered with a satisfying dose of psychedelia. Bandcamp Album of the Day Dec 7, 2018
